Ynette Evans is the found of The Healthy Church Movement (HCM), a cause dedicated to bringing life back to the body of Christ. She is a health-enthusiast, motivational speaker, singer, and writer. She is a graduate from Hampton University with a degree in Marketing and is currently pursuing her masters in Dietetics.

For years, Ynette has personally struggled with weight issues, which affected her physically, emotionally and psychologically. Her issues with weight affected her relationship with God for years, hindering her belief that God really loved her, or that He could do amazing things in her life. After rededicating her life to Jesus Christ in 2009, Ynette became a student at The Well Discipleship Training School in Atlanta Georgia. It was here that God met her in a personal way, reassuring her of His love for her and the plans He had for her life. It was there that God began to show her just how much he cared for her, inside and out.

“Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 6:19), where He has chosen to dwell once we give our lives to Him. If we care about the maintenance and upkeep of the houses we live in, why wouldn’t God? The Bible says that Jesus came to give us abundant life (John 10:10). How then are we really living this life to the fullest if we are trapped in the bondage of our own bodies?”

After graduating from The Well, she moved to Hampton Roads, VA where she worked for Students for Christ, an organization on the local college campuses. She found that young people who struggled with weight and self-image issues also struggled to see how God really felt about them and their purpose in the kingdom of God. And after surveying a few of the older members in her church, she found that this is a problem throughout the church and throughout the body of Christ as a whole.

After finally realizing that this was not a personal issue but a growing trend, Ynette began to think about how many overweight and unhealthy people there are in the church. “How can we say that the power of God lives within us (Ephesians 3:20), but yet we don’t have the power to change? Something is very wrong.”

Through The Healthy Church Movement (HCM), Ynette desires to see a new generation of believers, depending on the power of God to move in their lives, and having the testimony of overcoming personal struggles and embracing victory!
